I think that affiliate marketers have a different mindset then the rest of the population. We are always trying to make a buck and the ideas tend to come easy. They don’t always work, but we are always trying SOMETHING!
Lately I hear a lot of people recommending services to me. Within the last week i’ve heard people tell me great things about their experiences using Netflix, Amazon, Newegg & Hotels.com. Each of these people told me I had to check something out about each of these sites and ultimately use them. The funny thing is that they had no skin in the game but were just recommending services that they use and like.
Why do these people accept being unpaid affiliates? To me its a sin. All they would have to do is register for the affiliate program, get an easy URL like TryNetFlix.com or BuyAmazon.com (you get the point), recommend that people use their URL’s and start getting paid. Happy customers are the best salespeople for products and services. People like to tell people about great products that they’ve tried and services they’ve subscribed to. So why don’t ordinary people get on the bandwagon?
- Laziness
- Lack Of Computer Knowledge
- No Idea That Sites Would Pay Them To Refer New Customers
- Lack Of An Entrepreneurial Mindset
Here’s why you should care. We as affiliates are different and stand to make a lot of money by just thinking a little bit outside of the box. Figure out a way to get all of these unpaid spokespeople to distribute YOUR affiliate links and you’ve got gold. Think review sites & user generated content and you could have unpaid spokespeople, driving traffic to YOUR website and making YOU more money.
