Higher Profits Are Only A Click Away

There is an age old debate of whether to use a landing page or direct link traffic to an affiliate offer.  I get asked all the time which is better.  Everyone has their opinions.  I have a simple tip that I use to increase conversion rates.

Get the customers clicking!

I find that the more a customer clicks around and is physically engaged in a page, the more likely they are to do what YOU want them to do.  You’ll notice that a lot of lead gen type offers break the fields of information that they’re collecting into many different pages.  They usually start with simple inputs like drop downs, progress into less vital information like zip codes or email addresses and then later present the user with forms to collect more personal information.  Once a user engages with the page, they feel like they’ve started something that they want to finish.  This increases conversion rates.

What if you created some type of a game that was really just a front-end for an affiliate offer?  You could get the user clicking, engage them and then present them with the offer.  You could even use the game to better qualify the traffic to almost guarantee a SUPER HIGH conversion rate.

There is my idea for today.  You can make a lot of money with it.  Who is actually going to put this tip to use?

that’s a damn good tip. Reminds me of creating momentum and getting the customer moving on to the offer in the class 5 rapids of conversions. Kind of the way polls were implemented – but not really.

  2. It definitely works. It’s a classic sales technique. The more times you can get the prospect to say yes, the more likely they are to say yes when it matters.

I like to apply it in the actual copy of my landing pages, asking rhetorical questions where the logical answer is always one step further down the sales funnel.

  3. I think this only applies in a situation where a user is seeking a solution to a problem and less so when they are interrupted. Or am I crazy? Does this method produce engagement which gains trust when interrupted?

@Michael – It works in both situations but trying it will get you some real data to make decisions on

  5. Check out onlinebootycall.com and there sign up process. It has a cartoon that goes along as the person continues through the sign up process to keep the user engaged.

  6. This reminds me of a pickup technique called the “yes ladder”

You mean like those ads that have sluts with big tits on torrent sites, with a press “play” button/icon?

  8. Remember those Orbitz ads that were popular a few years back? Seems like this is just what you are talking about… they had games to be played in a flash banner (something still around today) and they seemed to work really well. Nice idea, I never really put two and two together

I wanna see some examples so I can jack their pages and use it as my own.

funny, i actually just had the same idea about the games or w/e. we will see how it goes. at the same time, you cant overload them with stuff though, or distract them from what you want them to do.
